Overview

This class is designed to teach practical carpentry skills at a basic level, through projects intended to improve the Bitney Prep campus.
While this will be primarily a hands-on class, we will also incorporate elements of designing, budgeting, and planning our projects. The safe use of hand & power tools is an essential element of the class. The application of practical math will add to the fun, and attention to environmental stewardship through our thoughtful use of natural resources will encourage social consciousness. Field trips to Habitat for Humanity job sites will provide community service and broaden our own building experience.

Students will receive a letter grade based on the extent to which they demonstrate a willingness to place safety as a primary concern, participate whole-heartedly, focus on the task at hand, and cooperate & collaborate with other members of the class.
