Castro Valley Slop-Fest Tournament
Return to Ultimate
Over the weekend of February 23rd-24th, the Bitney College Prep Ultimate Team (Air Traffic Control) competed against other high school teams in a tournament hosted by Castro Valley High School, home of The Red Hand. They ran an excellent tournament, with 6 high school teams and one adult team showing up.
We went 2-1 in our pool, including a win by default when Sacramento didn't show. In the pool crossover game, we played against the adult team, Mountain Ultimate Disc (M.U.D.), who hosted our first tournament back in November. After M.U.D. beat us, we nominated Parker and Ryan to play in the All-Stars game against Las Positas College, who stopped by to spank some high school kids (and some of their coaches).
That night Castro Valley hosted a dinner with live music (and some very amateur break dancing) in the school cafeteria. An arm wrestling competition broke out, but we don't need to go into that...
On Sunday everyone who stuck around put their names in a hat and teams were drawn randomly, though they tried to balance abilities and experience. Coach Schneider finally got a chance to play, but his team didn't win either of their games.
