Course Description
This Psychology class is an introduction to the general principles of psychology, concentrating on brain functions, sensation and perception, consciousness, learning and memory, motivation, and emotion. Additional topics may be selected.
Course Objectives
To provide:
- motivation in the student for a genuine interest in psychology.
- to acquaint students with a scientific understanding of human behavior.
- to help the student develop critical thinking.
- to provide the student with an informed understanding of how psychology has been developed and what will be required to further its development.
- to promote understanding of oneself, of others, and of environmental and genetic influences on behavior.
- comprehensive introduction to the various subject areas of psychology.
Grading
You will be graded on a performance scale (A-F). You will be given exams and a final. All exams will be multiple choice. You will also be graded on a series of in-class assignments and one semester project.
